Inspirational Must-Watch Videos for Bloggers
As Bloggers, it’s easy to lose focus and start to doubt ourselves and our abilities.
I know this was something I struggled with when I began working in Marketing. I felt insecure, unsure of myself, and like I was pretending to be something I wasn’t. Eventually, those feelings wore off and I gained confidence in my skills and no longer had to ‘fake it ’till I made it.’
Ironically, those feelings of uncertainty and doubt
crept back in came in like a title wave when I started my blog. I remember thinking “who is going to read a blog by a no-name Kentucky girl?” If it weren’t for watching videos or reading books like those listed below, there’s a chance I would have let that thought take over. Instead, these videos and books inspired me to keep going. They reminded me that I can make a statement and leave a legacy. They encouraged me to keep moving forward… and I hope they do the same for you!
Mena Trott: Meet the Founder of the Blog Revolution
If at any point in your blogging journey you’ve thought ‘I can’t do this…’ you must watch this TED talk with Mena Trott!
Everything about this video is fantastic. Mena is a down-to-earth woman who is inspiring, motivating, and hilarious! Her video is a must watch for Bloggers at all stages. Not only does she inspire viewers with her own personal stories about blogging and her own success and failures, she also reminds us of the impact of blogging. She redefines the importance of leaving your legacy for generations to come.
Steven Johnson: Where Good Ideas Come From
Before you started blogging, you likely asked yourself, “How do I come up with ideas on what to blog about?”
No? OK maybe it was just me…
Anywhoo… When I took the leap and started my blog, a little voice in the back of my mind told me I didn’t have enough ideas to keep a blog going long term. This was a real fear of mine when I hit ‘launch’ and made my blog public to the world!
What I love about this video by Steven Johnson is his unique way of illustrating the creation of a great idea! He dives into what makes a great idea and how great ideas grow and develop. I love this piece for Bloggers because of the idea of community. Steven reverses the notion that great ideas will one day be nonexistent because of our constant access to the digital world and instead suggests this constant access will develop bigger and better ideas for future generations.
This is a great short video that will get you ready to partner with fellow Bloggers to build the next big thing!
Sheryl Sandberg: Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders
This one is for all my #LadyBoss #GirlBlogger #Femaltraneuers out there who need a splash of confidence to make great things happen! For those of you who don’t know her, Sheryl Sandburg is the COO of Facebook and the author of a fantastic book – Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead – in which she describes life at the corporate level as a woman and leader.
What’s even more inspiring is Sheryl’s perseverance in her personal life. A few years after this TED talk, Sheryl’s husband passed away unexpectedly while they were on vacation. She has since published a new book titled “Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resistance, and Finding Joy” where she and co-author Adam Grant discuss grief and rebuilding the muscle of resilience. While not necessarily blog focused, this book is incredibly inspirational and just an overall amazing read.
Before you read Sheryl’s books, though, make sure to watch her TED talk. Sheryl chose a corporate lifestyle, but her story is one that is applicable to women of all lifestyles. Whether you’re a business owner, stay-at-home-mom, full-time Blogger, or all of the above, Sheryl’s message to women is one of empowerment and strength.
My hope through these videos is that you leave this page inspired and ready to take on the world!
Just a little piece of inspiration from me… You are capable and qualified. The only person you have to convince is yourself!
